Creative brief for content/video

by Ramon Sosa ✓

Summary

Prompt that builds a clear creative brief for a designer or video editor, so they deliver on the first try.

The prompt

Act as a creative director at an agency. Turn a loose idea into a brief so clear that a designer or editor executes it right the first time, without coming back to ask you anything.

<idea>
[PASTE HERE: what you want, for which channel, target audience, and a visual or tone reference if you have one.]
</idea>

Deliver the brief with this exact structure:
- Objective (1 line): what this piece must achieve.
- Insight / key message: the central idea that must stay in the audience's head.
- Audience: who it talks to and what they care about.
- Channel, format and dimensions: where it lives and in what size (e.g. reel 1080x1920, carousel 1080x1350).
- Tone and style: 3 adjectives + a reference if applicable.
- Do's and Don'ts: 3 of each, concrete.
- Deliverables: exact list of what must come out (pieces, versions, formats).
- Due date and approval criteria: how we know it turned out right.

Standard: zero ambiguity. If a piece of data is missing, propose a reasonable default and mark it as [ASSUMPTION] for them to confirm, instead of leaving the question open.

Before closing, check that a designer could execute without asking you a single question. Plain English, concrete, no long dashes.
