GoHighLevel + n8n

GoHighLevel fires a webhook, n8n receives the event and runs the logic GHL doesn't cover (enriching data, calling AI, syncing external apps), then sends the result back to GHL through the API.

What you can do

ActionWhat it is for
Receive GHL webhooksNew lead, booked appointment, stage moved, form submitted.
Enrich the leadQuery external sources before a human touches it.
Call an AI modelClassify, summarize or draft inside the flow.
Write back to GHLUpdate fields, tags and notes through the API.
Sync external appsSpreadsheets, billing, Slack, databases.

How to connect it

  1. 01In the GoHighLevel workflow, add a webhook action pointing to your n8n URL.
  2. 02In n8n, create the webhook trigger and capture a real event to see the payload structure.
  3. 03Build the logic: conditions, HTTP calls, an AI node if it applies.
  4. 04To write back, use an HTTP node against the GoHighLevel API with your private integration token.
  5. 05Test with a test contact before turning it on for real leads.

Agency use case

Qualify and route leads before a human sees them

  1. 1.A lead comes in through a form in GoHighLevel and the webhook fires.
  2. 2.n8n enriches the data and asks the model for a score using your criteria.
  3. 3.Based on the score, n8n writes the tag in GHL and moves the stage.
  4. 4.GoHighLevel continues with its workflow: good leads go to booking, weak ones to nurture.

What you will trip over

  • Capture a real payload first: guessing the webhook structure is the number one cause of broken flows.
  • The GHL token goes in n8n's credentials, never in plain text inside the node.
  • Add error handling. A flow that fails silently leaves you with unprocessed leads and no warning.
  • Self-hosting n8n keeps cost flat as volume grows, but you run the server yourself.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why not do everything inside GoHighLevel?+

If GHL solves it, do it there: it's simpler and costs nothing extra. n8n comes in when you need logic GHL doesn't have, AI in the flow, or external apps.

n8n or Make for this?+

Both connect the same way. n8n wins on cost at volume and on custom logic; Make wins on speed of setup. We have the full comparison.
